Playful Pair at the Portland Parks

Next up for this chilly Monday was a trip to Portland for a walk with Bennie & Georgie.  They were happy to get out and about today and wanted to play a bit in the snow as we went.  We headed for Baxter Woods, and did a short loop through there to avoid some of the coming snowfall.  We mostly managed to avoid the storm, and these two were on their best behavior for the afternoon.  We were able to get in a nice long walk and tire these two out for an afternoon of relaxing at home on this chilly Monday at Kanine Kings.

Triumphant Trio at the Preserve

Monday called for some winter conditions and it was a bit chilly, but we started strong with a trip to the nature preserve in Scarborough for a walk with a trio of great dogs.  Lola, Ginger & Harvey were very excited to meet and all got along splendidly for our walk through the woods.  They took turns chasing one another and rolling in the snow.  We were lucky to avoid the storm with our early start and had the trails all to ourselves for the day.  We got in a nice long walk and had a lot of playtime with this great trio, before heading home for the afternoon to warm up and relax.  it was a great start to another great week at Kanine Kings.

Saturday Playdate at Quarry Run

Saturday we were also fortunate to have a great play date with a quartet at the Quarry Run Dog Park.  Saltine, Harvey, Koda & Mya were happy to get out today and all had a great time.  The park was very busy, and this group was on their best behavior, greeting many people and pups that were having a blast running and playing.  They played with some tennis balls and a stick or two, kicking up lots of fresh snow along the way.  The weather was beautiful for the afternoon and everyone had a great time on this Saturday afternoon play date at the dog park.

Happy Houseguest

This weekend we are fortunate enough to have Glacier come to visit us.  She was happy to greet Genni (as you can see by the first photo) and was on her best behavior for her stay.  We spent some time between her house and ours, and spent some time wandering around her neighborhood, playing in the snow.  She loves to cuddle and is always a joy to have around.  We are happy to have her for the weekend at Kanine Kings.

A Brave New Winter Wonderland

I had an exciting group walk with Tucker, Saltine and Lola to play in the fresh powder in Falmouth. These dogs really enjoy the snow and takes these play dates to the next level when they are set loose. Saltine and Lola found a stick to play with and ran endlessly though the trees. Tucker lead the way but took plenty of time to join in the fun. We all had a good time out breaking trail and playing in the new winter wonderland. We made the trek back to civilization and up the hill to get everyone cleaned off and warmed up. We said goodbye to Tucker and got Lola home safely to finish off our snowy Friday with Kanine Kings.

Frosty Paws with Max

I had a trecherous trip up the hill on Forest Ave on my way intown for my walk with Max. The wet and heavy snow made for some slick driving conditions all day but the sidewalks were clear enough for Max and I to get a little adventure in around Monument Square. The accumulation was quite impressive being so close to the ocean this afternoon and would stick to everything in an instant. Despite all the snow it was still pretty warm which made for a pleasant trek around the downtown district together. We reached Max's front door and with one good shake he was able to get most of the snow off so I didn't have much to dry off before letting him settle in for a nap.

Blizzard Blitz with Georgie and Bennie

I started off my snowy Friday with a slippery walk with Georgie and Bennie. There was already a few inches on the ground when we started our walk this morning, which made for a rather messy trip to Baxter Woods. We enjoyed some of the side streets around their neighborhood before we reached the entrance of the park. Bennie, Georgie and I all welcomed the sight of the woods and were able to find a little safety from the storm in the trees. We explored some of the park before retracing our steps for a final loop around the block before reaching their back door to get cleaned up and getting inside to warm up.

Running wild at Pratt's

To finish off my Thursday afternoon I took Lola, Henry, Phoebe, Ruby and Nala for a fun-filled trip to Pratt's Brook. We explored some of the trail and met a new friend to run with but the trail was still pretty icy, so we turned around to play in the field. Nala found a ball and played some fetch with Henry. While Ruby took on both Lola and Phoebe and gave those pups a lesson or 2 on how to play properly. They were all well behaved and had plenty of fun getting a little wet and dirty along the way today. I threw a few more tennis balls for them to chase after on our way back to the parking lot to get cleaned up some before making our trek home to relax.

Midday break with Max

For my lone single walk of the day i headed into the oldport for a stroll downtown with Max. I even shed my jacket for our walk on this beautiful Thursday afternoon. We enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather while we were out for our midday break. Max was well behaved and happy to get out to take in the spring-like air with this unusual weather pattern we're having. We squeezed in a little exercise for him before I got him back home to lounge away the afternoon.

A Fetchin' Frenzy at Fort Williams

This morning I started my day with a fun group walk out by Portland Head Light. I brought along Godiva, Saltine, Zoey, Grace and Roxy to play an exciting game of fetch in the big open field. All 5 were anxious to cut loose and run free in the wide spaces of the abandoned sports field. Godiva went and checked the perimeter a couple times but soon even she came over to join in the fun. She was so happy when I threw her some short grounders to let her run along with the pack. Saltine and Roxy would break off for some more intense playing and chasing, while Zoey and Grace kept the game of fetch going. All in all it was a nice trip to the seashore to get things going this morning.

Splashing around the Marsh

For my group walk today I got to spend some time with one of our newest members, Remmy. I picked him up then Godiva and Ginger for a walk by the Scarborough Marsh. Remmy and Ginger didn't waste any time getting acquainted and were quickly playing like good friends. All 3 dogs got along well and made the best of our wet walk on the marsh trail. Godiva accompanied us to check out the soccer field we stumbled on to before getting back to investigating all the fresh smells of the marshland. There wasn't a whole lot of excitement today with the inclement weather but we had some fun before getting everyone dried off and back home safe and sound.

Seeking shelter with Max

Max and I had a wet and windy walk on this Wednesday humpday. The wind was gusting us around downtown so we took shelter where we could today. We stayed mostly around the buildings to try to avoid the nasty weather as much as possible. Max is not a fan of this kind of weather and I certainly didn't blame him this afternoon. We still had a pretty good walk to get him out of the house for bit before getting him back home to dry off and relax.

Furry Four Fun in Falmouth

Next up for this  rainy Wednesday was a trip to Falmouth with four great pups.  Tucker, Lola, Kaia & Macey were excited to get out in the woods and go for a run.  This crew took turns chasing each other into the woods and down the trail, splashing up snow and water all along the way.  They had a blast, playing chase and chewing on sticks, taking turns giving chase.  These four were on their best behavior for the afternoon and all had a lot of fun.  We headed back to the car to dry off and head for home to warm up and relax for the afternoon at home.

Wet Wednesday Walk

Wednesday called for some rain in the forecast, but that didn't slow down Bennie And Georgie from getting out and going on a stroll today.  They were excited to get started, despite the raindrops, and we headed to Baxter Woods to get some shelter from the rainfall.  These two were on their best behavior, and we had the park all to ourselves for the walk.  We got in some exercise in the rain before it was time to head for home to towel off and warm up for the afternoon.  Despite the weather, it was a great stroll with this pair at Kanine Kings.

Smilin' with Max

This afternoon Max and I had a nice time around downtown Portland. We had a pleasant walk and said hello to a couple of Max's friends down on the cobblestones. He was well behaved and polite while we were out getting a little exercise. We were blessed with plenty of sunshine today and welcomed the mild temperatures that are hanging around lately. We ended his walk with a relaxing stroll around the block before dropping him off and heading to Yarmouth.

1 on 1 with Tucker

I started off my Tuesday with a trip to Falmouth for a walk with just Tucker and I. He was all smiles and excited to get outside for some exercise. We had a nice walk down to the lake, then took the trail to do a little exploring. Tucker took the time to play in the snow and chew on a couple sticks too. We got plenty of fresh air and sunshine on the way back to the main road and eventually back home to drop off Tucker for the afternoon.

Lucky Number Seven

Next up for this lovely Tuesday at Kanine Kings was a trip to Fel's Grove in Yarmouth with a great group of seven dogs.  Phoebe, Ruby, Nala, Roxy, Henry, Zoey & Grace were all very excited to get out today and run and play in the snow.  The warm weather melted away a lot of the snow in the grove, but there was plenty for this group.  We tossed the ball and they took turns fetching, returning or running away from one another with it.  Phoebe and Ruby were fast friends and took turns chasing each other and occasionally joining the fray of Golden Retrievers.  This group had a blast, and got in a lot of exercise running and playing at the grove before we headed for home for the afternoon.  There were some tired dogs in the back for our trip home, with a couple napping as we went.  It was a great time for all of us on this beautiful day at Kanine Kings.

Excited Quartet at Play

Tuesday called for for another beautiful day, and it started with four great dogs on a trip to the preserve in Scarborough.  Lola, Ginger, Saltine & Godiva were all excited to get out today and started rough-housing a bit in the car.  When we arrived they burst out the door and headed down the trail, wrestling and taking turns chasing each other through the woods.  This crew was on their best behavior for the afternoon, and we were able to get in a nice long walk through the woods on this beautiful afternoon.  Everyone had a blast, and we all got in our daily exercise before heading for home to enjoy the afternoon.  It was a great start to another great day at Kanine Kings.

4-pack to the Scarborough Preserve

For my group walk i picked up Koda, Mya and Lola for a trip to see Ginger. These 4 were well behaved today but couldn't wait to let loose and run wild. Mya, as usual just hung back with me mostly and did her own thing. She couldn't keep up with the other 3 today anyways who were running all over the field playing and having a ball together.  Koda, Ginger and Lola are right around the same age and really enjoy one another's company on our group walks. We finished up the loop around the field and got everyone back home eventually to finish off our afternoon here at Kanine Kings.

Sunny afternoon with Max

Max and I had plenty of sunshine today for our afternoon visit. We had a very pleasant walk on this unseasonable Monday and start to February. Max was on his best behavior when we ran into one of his neighbors and made a new friend in Monument Square. We were both happy and welcomed the warmer temperatures and abundant sunshine that accompanied us while we got a little exercise. I got Max back safe and sound to lounge around in his bed for the rest of the afternoon.
