Friday Five at the Quarry

Friday called for some chilly weather, but we were full speed ahead to the Quarry on Ocean Ave for a walk with five great pups.  Lola, Riley, Tucker, Harvey & Bailey were all well acquainted from their prior visits, and everyone was happy to get out and about for a run in the fresh powder.  We took a long loop through the dog park, to get to the hill out back and walk the trials around the quarry.  This group was on their best behavior for our trip, and we saw a few other dogs out with their owners along the way.  These five were very friendly with the others, and all had a great time running out in the snow before we headed for home to defrost, and relax into the weekend.

Taking it easy with Max

This afternoon Max and I took a nice long leisurely walk around to take in the sights and smells of downtown. We walked up Congress St some and took the long way around today to mix things up a little. Max did great on our walk and enjoyed some sunshine and fresh air on the coast. We took our time around One City Center before making the short trek back to Max's to let him relax.

Lucky Seven at Fel's Grove

Next up for this busy Thursday at Kanine Kings, was a trip to Yarmouth for a walk on Fel's Grove with seven great pups.  Phoebe, Nala, Ruby, Roxy, Grace, Zoey & Henry were excited to plays some fetch and run in the snow.  We brought a few tennis balls to toss, and there was a lot of chasing the ball and one another.  We checked out some of the trails into the power lines, before coming back to the grove to play some fetch.  This group got along great, and all got in a lot of exercise and fun before we headed back to the car.  The group met a few dogs on our walk back, and couldn't have been friendlier to all of the others visiting.  We got in our walk before the snow started to fall, it was a great way to spend another beautiful day at Kanine Kings.

Feeding Time for Finn

We returned Riley to his house, and checked in on the puppy, Finn, this afternoon on our way to Yarmouth.  He nibbled on some food, and took a few treats, in between chewing on any toys he could find.  We went outside and he explored the yard a bit, before he headed back inside for a few more treats before getting back in his crate for an afternoon nap.  Finn is very cute, and he's a welcome addition to Kanine Kings.

Super Six Start in the Snow

Thursday started with a half dozen great dogs on an excursion to the nature preserve in Scarborough.  Ginger, Lola, Riley, Saltine, Harvey & Bailey were all happy to get out and run in the fresh snow in the fields.  Bailey and Riley spent some time hanging out, admiring their similarities before Riley spent some time running through the woods.  Ginger chased Harvey through the trees and they took turns chasing each other and wrestling in the snow.  Saltine and Lola found a tree branch, that they treated like a regular stick and attempted to carry it down the trail and back to the car.  These six had a blast in the woods, running and playing, before we headed back to the car to defrost some paws and head for home to relax for the day.

Stepping out with Otto

This afternoon Otto and I had a good walk alongside the back cove for a little sunshine and exercise. Otto was on his best behavior when we reached the trail and said hello to a couple fellow walkers. He really enjoys the feeling of freedom when we reach the field and he gets to run through the untouched snow. We enjoyed the sights and smells of the marsh before reaching the end of our trail and eventually returning home for the rest of the day.

On the mend with Max

Our downtown friend Max was a little under the weather yesterday but today he seemed to be feeling better. We had a leisurely walk about the center of downtown to get out and breath in some fresh air. Max and I took in the sights of the square before strolling down the hill to say hello to a friend. He seemed a little more like himself this afternoon and well on his way back to 100%. We had a nice relaxing walk but soon Max was ready to get back home to lay around in his comfy bed.

Puppy Love

Not to be forgotten, was today's trip to take a stroll with our newest puppy, Finn.  He was very excited to see us and upon going outside immediately took care of business.  We gave him a midday meal and some time to relax, then came back to drop off his older brother and let him out for another break.  He is very cute, and likes to jump up and get lots of love.  Finn needs a lot of attention, and we are happy that he can be our newest Kanine King.

Making friends with Georgie and Bennie

Next on the list for today I headed into Portland to hangout with Georgie and Bennie. I took a couple minutes to get reacquainted with Bennie and track down their leashes before we set off for Baxter Woods. We had a good walk through their neighborhood and said hello to a couple neighbors and the nice postman. Bennie and Georgie were well behaved and happy to explore some of the woods. We got some exercise on our loop through the woods before making our way back through the neighborhood to get them home to relax.

A mix bag with Maggie

I started off my Wednesday with a nice walk and visit with Maggie. We explored some of downtown Westbrook for some fresh air and exercise. Then Maggie and I made our way across the river and up the hill to visit and play with a couple of children my mom was watching for the day. She was on her best behavior and happy to make some new friends to chase after. We played a little more but the kids were ready for some lunch and a nap. Maggie said goodbye to her new friends for now and headed home for a nap of her own.

Quintet in the Quarry

Next we took a trip to Ocean Avenue for a trip to the quarry to run around the trails.  We had five great pups, Riley, Remy, Lola, Tucker & Harvey go for a run, uncovering lots of fresh snow and having the trees and trails mostly to themselves.  They were respectful of the other dogs they encountered along the way, and all took turns playing chase and rolling in the fresh powder.  Riley kept to himself a bit, but was friendly with the other pups.  Remy & Lola were fast friends and took turns playing chase, while Tucker & Harvey came in and out of the chase.  This was a great group and everyone had a lot of fun in the snow, before we headed for home to spend the afternoon napping in the sun.

First Four at Fel's Grove

Wednesday called for some nice weather, and we started with a trip to Yarmouth with four great dogs at Fel's Grove.  Kaia, Macey, Henry & Harvey were all excited to get started today and kicked up some fresh powder heading into the grove.  This group got along great, and quickly greeted the only other person walking the grove with their dog.  They were all on their best behavior, and included the other dog in their game of chase, until her owner said it was time to go.  We went deep into the grove, through lots of fresh powder, playing and chasing each other along the way.  We got in a lot of exercise in the snow, before heading for home to spend the afternoon relaxing.  It was a great start to another great day at Kanine Kings.

Fun Play in the Snow at Fel's Grove

Our last walk of the day brought us to Yarmouth for a lucky group of seven lucky pups.  Nala, Ruby, Phoebe, Henry, Roxy, Grace & Zoey were ready for some fetch in the field.  They ran through the fresh snow, at some points it was a bit deep for the little ones, but that didn't deter them from playing lots of fetch and chasing each other through the snow and into the woods.  We tossed the ball, and lost it a few times in the deep powder, but ultimately it turned up for our trip home.  This group got along great, and were all on their best behavior for the afternoon.  We had the grove all to ourselves, and this group got in a lot of playing and exercise before we headed for home for the afternoon to melt some snow in their fur and warm up a bit.  It was a great way to close out another great day at Kanine Kings.

Introducing: Riley & Finn

Next up for this busy day at Kanine Kings was our a trip to meet our newest members, Riley & Finn.  Riley isn't a big fan of his new family addition, so we were able to walk them separately while Finn enjoyed his lunch.  These two were a lot of fun and Finn was very cute.  He got to meet Jason, Chris & Genni and was as happy to meet new people as he was to eat his lunch or get a few treats.  Riley was on his best behavior for the day and got himself some love and attention from the group before we headed out for the day.  This pair will be a lot of fun going forward, and we look forward to watching Finn grow up and make friends with his housemate Riley.

Starting Five In Falmouth Woods

Tuesday brought some fresh new snow to play in, and we started in Falmouth with a group of five great pups.  Lola, Tucker, Harvey, Saltine & Ina were all fast friends, and got excited for the trek through the snowy woods.  They alternated chasing each other and being chased through the fresh powder, kicking up snow as they went.  This group was on their best behavior for the day, and all got along great and had a blast playing.  We got in a nice long walk in the snow before heading for home to spend the rest of the day thawing out and hanging out at home.

A pitstop with Max

Max had a bit of a rough morning and a little tummy ache for our walk today. Everything seemed pretty normal when we started our walk and headed down to check out Monument Square. It wasn't til he had a little slip by One City Center I could tell he wasn't really feeling like himself. We enjoyed a quick walk to get outside for some fresh air but soon he had had enough and lead me straight home to relax.

Playdate in the Park

Next on my agenda was a playdate at Quarry Run with 6 fun dogs. I brought along Remmy, Koda, Mya, Grace, Roxy and Zoey to play fetch and run free before the snow started flying. We explored some of the big hill and found a ball to throw around when we entered the park. Koda and Remmy were full of energy and were quickly playing and rough housing. Roxy would try to sneak in once in awhile to share in the fun and steal the ball back from Remmy. We all had a fun trip to the park to play and socialize but when the snow started falling everyone calmed down and was ready to head indoors. We headed for the parking lot to get warmed up before getting everyone home safe for the afternoon.

Monday morning stroll with Max

To kickoff my week I went downtown Portland to start my Monday with Max. We had a chilly time while we were out in the oldport to get a little exercise. Max and I took a little different route today and explored some of upper exchange. The wind was whipping around pretty good off of the waterfront which kept us moving right along. We had a nice little walk back home to get Max inside to warm up on this frigid morning.

Chilly Stroll with Otto

Next we headed across town for a walk on Back Bay with Otto.  The wind and snow picked up a bit and it was a bit cold on the waterfront.  Otto wasn't happy with the wind an cold, so we headed into his neighborhood to try and avoid some of the elements.  He was a bit happier with that decision, and we got in a nice stroll, despite the weather.  Otto was happy to get out and was on his best behavior for the day, as we got in some exercise and saw the storm come in over the ocean, before heading for home to spend the afternoon warming up.  Despite the chilly weather we had a great day with Otto at Kanine Kings.
