For a good lunchtime walk I went out to the peninsula of Portland to check out the sights of the oldport with Max. He was on his best behavior and happy to get a little attention while we were out and about. We lingered in Monument Square until Max got his fill and was ready to move on along. Max and I enjoyed a few more sights before squeezing in a little exercise while working our way back torwards home. We reached our final destination safe and sound then got Max settled in for a relaxing afternoon.
Around the Neighborhood with Otto
Otto and I stuck to the side roads mostly for our walk together today. He was on his best behavior for our little jaunt through his neighborhood. We did a quick loop by his house on the way to a windy and short trip on the back bay. It was quite raw and blustery next to the water today so we made it short and sweet before returning to the safety of the side roads. We enjoyed a nice leisurely stroll and stretched it another block before getting him home to enjoy the afternoon.
Seven in Heaven at the Quarry
To close out this busy Thursday at Kanine Kings was a trip to the Quarry Run Dog Park with seven great dogs. Lola, Phoebe, Ruby, Tucker, Riley, Nala & Godiva were happy to get out and be social today. We met a lot of other people and dogs that were out enjoying the sunny weather at the park today. This group was on their best behavior, and all got a lot of attention from the locals, getting lots of petting and scratches behind their ears. We tossed some tennis balls, but they mostly took turns chasing each other around in the woods and snow. We all got in some exercise before heading for home for the afternoon to have a snack and relax.
Finn-tastic
Next was a stop to visit with Finn for his afternoon walk and lunch. He was too excited to eat when we arrived and we took a stroll around the neighborhood. Finn has been great and we haven't had any accidents (fingers crossed) so far when we visit. He snacked on some lunch and then tried to visit with Riley for a bit before we retired him to his crate for a few treats before his afternoon nap. It was a great visit with Finn today and he is a happy puppy.
Six Pack in the Sun
Thursday started early at the preserve on LittleJohn with a group of six great dogs. It was a group of Goldens and Golden Doodles. Grace, Zoey, Roxy, Hank, Henry & Leo were very excited to get out in the sun today and chase some tennis balls as well as one another. We ran into a few other people walking with their dog and this group was on their best behavior for the morning. We got in a quite a few throws on our loop around the preserve before heading for home to relax and have an afternoon snack. It was a great way to start out a sunny Thursday at Kanine Kings.
A trip to the Fore River with Glacier
For a little extra walk after lunch today I picked up Glacier for a short trek to see the Fore River. It was a bit slippery at first with the uncommon mixture of ice and mud combining for some tricky trail conditions. The trail flattened out and conditions improved when we reached the marsh and river. Glacier and I took a minute to take in the view when we crossed the bridge over the river before letting her run free for a little while. We scared off a few ducks when we found a small bench by the marsh to catch our breath on. She was happy to get outside for some fresh air and exploration on this nice warm Wednesday but soon we were back in the car and headed for home.
A Refreshing Stint with Max
For my next walk I headed intown Portland for a pleasant stroll around downtown to see Max. He was well behaved and happy to say Hi to a friend of his we saw on our way through Monument Square. We made a quick stop at one of Max's other favorite hangouts to appreciate some of the public artwork. Max and I took full advantage of the sunshine while making our way up and around the arena before arriving safely on Max's doorstep. I said my goodbyes for now and got him settled in for the afternoon.
Hitting the Boulevard with Otto
To kickoff my day Otto and I went for a nice walk down to see the sights of the Back Bay. He was well behaved for our little trek by the water and enjoyed all the new smells uncovered from yesterday's rainstorm. We had to do a little trudging through some muck to get around the marsh trail, which made for a little extra workout today. Otto and I enjoyed our loop around the trail for some fresh air and sunshine before returning home to unwind and relax.
Five Alive at LittleJohn Preserve
Next up on this beautiful Wednesday afternoon, was a trip to LittleJohn preserve with five great dogs. Leo, Hank, Macey, Kaia & Saltine were excited to get out in the warm weather and go for a run on the waterfront. They ran through some water, and chased each other through the woods. We met a few others on our trip around the path and this group couldn't have been better behaved. We made a nice big loop around the preserve before heading back to the car to dry off a bit and head for home. It was a great way to spend a beautiful afternoon at Kanine Kings with this fun group of five.
Fun with Finn
Next we brought Riley home and took a visit with Finn. We had some lunch and went for a stroll around the neighborhood. He licked at the snow and ice and explored around the yard. We went inside and he tried to spend some time hanging out with Riley, who wasn't very excited by the prospect. He had a few snacks and picked at some of his lunch, before we put him back in his crate for the afternoon. Finn is very cute and was on his best behavior for the afternoon before we headed out for some more walks.
Six Running in the Slop
Wednesday started with a group of a half dozen pups for a trip to Quarry Run on Ocean Ave. Remy, Luke, Riley, Lola, Saltine & Godiva were ready to take a stroll around the trails behind the Quarry and we found a lot of mud and puddles from the melting snow and recent rain. This group had a blast, chasing each other in and out of the woods and splashing along as they went. We ran into a few other people and their pups out enjoying the warm weather, and this group was on their best behavior, greeting the owners and pups on their trip. We got a little wet and muddy, but nothing that couldn't be cleaned off to start out this great Wednesday at Kanine Kings.
Around the Marsh with Otto
Otto and I enjoyed a good walk around the Back bay marsh trail to get some exercise. He was on his best behavior and was excited to break trail in the snow. We were one of the first few that hit the trail today and had the whole trail to ourselves. Both of us were happy to be outside and take in the sights of the bay on this warm day. Otto played some more in the snow while we made the loop back towards his house to let him unwind for the rest of the afternoon.
Keeping warm with Max
My Tuesday morning started with a nice warm walk in Portland with Max. We set off to enjoy some of the oldport for a little bit of exercise. It was pleasantly warm which made for a good day to be outside despite the overnight icy conditions. We took in the sights of Monument Square on the way down to Spring St to stretch our legs. Max and I had a nice straight away for a little exercise before reaching our final destination. I got Max home and dried him off a bit and settled in for the afternoon.
Super Eight Pups at Fel's Grove
Next up for this wet day at Kanine Kings was a trip to Fel's Grove in Yarmouth with a pack of eight great dogs. Jay and I took Roxy, Zoey, Grace, Phoebe, Henry, Nala, Ruby & Saltine out into the snowy field with a tennis ball thrower and a few balls. They alternated between chasing the ball and chasing the dog that found the ball and ran away with it. We made quite a path in the grove with this troupe before deciding to call it a day and head for home. We had the grove all to ourselves for the afternoon, and everyone got in some good exercise before the rains came. We all had a great time and managed to stay mostly dry o this terrific Tuesday at Kanine Kings.
Tuesday Puppy Playtime
Following our walk in the woods, we went to drop Riley off at home and drop in on Finn. Finn was excited to get out of his crate and head outdoors to do his business. He had a midday snack before we headed back to his crate and left him a couple of treats. Today Finn was excited to learn that he can eat some snow and ice off the ground as we made our way around the neighborhood. Finn was a lot of fun today and was on his best behavior for the afternoon and we were happy to send some time with the little guy today.
Super Six in the Snow
Tuesday called for some rainfall onto the fresh snow from yesterday and we started with a six pack of great dogs in the woods in Falmouth. Tucker, Lola, Saltine, Maggie, Godiva & Riley were off to a fast start down the trail and into the fresh snow. It was a bit deep at some points, but this crew didn't let that slow them down. They played tag, taking turns chasing each other and rolling in the fresh powder. We got pretty deep into the woods before we decided to turn back and head for home. All the dogs were on their best behavior for the day and we all had a great time, getting in our walk before the rains came. It was a great way to start another great Tuesday at Kanine Kings.
President's Day Play date
For my only group walk on this holiday I had a nice trip to Quarry Run with Lola, Koda and Mya. They were well behaved and had a fun trip to the park. Lola and Koda found some sticks to chew on and play chase with the other dogs. Koda made a couple new friends to play tag with and Lola would join in when she felt a little feisty. The park was rather quiet for a holiday so we took to the trail out back to finish our walk before getting them home to wind down our Presidents Day here at Kanine Kings.
A quiet holiday with Max
To get things going on this Presidential Monday Max and I took a pleasant walk around downtown Portland. Most of the offices were closed for the occasion so we had a nice and relaxing walk on this quiet Monday. We made sure to pass by some of Max's favorite spots while making the rounds for a little exercise. Max and I enjoyed some fresh air and soaked up the sunshine on our walk on Spring St before arriving safe and sound at Max's front door.
Frozen Four Sunday Fun
Sunday called for a special trip to Quarry Run with four great dogs in the subzero temperatures. Saltine, Godiva, Harvey & Bailey didn't let the cold slow them down today and were excited to get some exercise and play. Saltine and Harvey played some tug of war with a tree branch, while Bailey and Godiva watched on, playing in the snow and sniffing out the smells of winter in the woods. It wasn't nearly as cold as I anticipated, and we all got in a nice long walk in the woods before heading for home to defrost for the rest of the weekend. This was a great group to take out on this chilly Sunday at Kanine Kings.
Friday Fun with Finn
Friday we also had a chance to visit with Finn, and he was very excited about seeing us today. We arrived to pick up his brother, and he was excited about eating some lunch, and did a lot of chowing before we left him some time to rest. When we returned, we took a stroll around the neighborhood, mostly around the yard, because that's as far as his little legs would carry him before he wanted to head for home. He had a few snacks, and tried to play with Riley for a bit, before he returned to his crate for the afternoon to await his owner's arrival. It was a great way to head into the weekend at Kanine Kings.
