Thursday started with a big group at Quarry Run Dog Park for an afternoon of play in the mud puddles. We had two new additions to the Kanine Kings family, Abigail & Bella, who seamlessly fit in with the other four, Saltine,Lola, Godiva & Riley on our trip to the park. It was a bit wet and muddy, but that didn't slow this group down. They made fast friends with one another, and quickly joined in another group at the park as they played some keep away with a tennis ball. This group couldn't have been more welcoming to our new recruits, and everyone was on their best behavior for the trip. Everyone got a bit wet, but nothing that we couldn't deal with with a towel or two on the ride home. We all had a great time playing in the mud puddles at the park to start off this great Thursday at Kanine Kings.
Six Splashing in the Slop
The rain got heavier in the afternoon but that didn't slow down our trip to Fel's Grove. We had a half dozen great dogs who were happy to play in the mud and puddles. Leo, Hank, Kaia, Macey, Tucker & Riley were all excited to get out and run today. We tossed a few tennis balls, and they played tug of war with some sticks. The alternated running through the woods and onto the trails, splashing everywhere as they went. We had the grove all to ourselves for the afternoon and everyone was on their best behavior for the trip before we toweled off and headed home to dry off and relax. Despite the weather it was another great day at Kanine Kings.
Splashing with Finn
On the way to Yarmouth for a group walk we stopped in for a quick walk with Finn. He was happy to see me when I arrived and was quick to get outside to take care of business. We walked around the neighborhood a bit before heading home for some lunch. He was more preoccupied with trying to play with Riley than he was his food, but he eventually finished it. We took a quick trip back outside and left him happily in his crate with a few snacks before heading out.
Damp Day with Bennie & Georgie
The weather for Wednesday called for some rain after the light snowfall last night. We started in Portland with a stroll with Bennie & Georgie. These two weren't afraid of the elements and were ready to go when I arrived. We got in a nice long walk in some light raindrops before these two were tuckered out. These two were on their best behavior for the afternoon and we got in our exercise before heading home to dry out and relax.
Turning Laps at the Preserve
I had a group of 6 anxious and excited dogs this afternoon so we headed to the Scarborough Preserve to let loose. Saltine, Maggie, Godiva, Lola, Remmy, and Ginger all took turns leading the pack in an intense game of chase around the open field. They were all well behaved and so happy to see each other for a big play date today. Every time I turned around someone else was taking the lead to run some laps until they were out of breath. During the brief intermission they would break off to play for a minute or two before ramping back up for another session. We all got a little wet from the steady light rain this afternoon but managed to stay out of the mud. After a few more laps on our way back to the parking lot we got everyone dried off and back home safely.
A little drizzle for Max
My Wednesday started with some light rain and a trip intown Portland to see Max. We went the long way around Monument Square to say Hi to a friend and make a couple new ones. Max was well behaved and is always so affectionate when we stop for these quick meet 'n' greets. Eventually making our way past One City Center we got some exercise on our big loop around the Cross Insurance Arena today. Before long we reached our final destination and got Max dried off to relax.
Final Four in Falmouth
We closed out a busy day with a final foursome out in the woods in Falmouth. This group was ready to run when we got to the trails, and headed out on the trail as far as they could get. The would quickly run back and then repeat the process. They wrestled over some sticks they found on the trail, and even splashed around in some of the water that wasn't frozen over yet. We had the trails all to ourselves today, and everyone was high energy, and on their best behavior for the afternoon. We got in a lot of exercise and got out a lot of energy for this busy group before packing up the car and heading home in time to greet their owners for the evening. It was a great way to end a busy day at Kanine Kings.
Golden Reunion on LittleJohn
Next up was a trip to Yarmouth to reunite the Golden Retriever and Golden Doodle group that we ran with yesterday. Hank, Leo, Roxy, Henry, Grace & Zoey were excited to get out today and go for a run. We didn't need any tennis balls to entertain this crew, because they were ready to run from the get go. We visited the preserve on LittleJohn and had the place all to ourselves for the afternoon. Everyone was on their best behavior, and got in a lot of playtime before it was all said and done. We got a chance to get some exercise and enjoy the great weather this afternoon on LittleJohn Island at Kanine Kings.
Frenzied Foursome at the Preserve
Tuesday called for some sun and chilly temperatures, and we started out with a foursome of great dogs at the preserve in Scarborough. Lola, Ginger, Ina & Godiva were ready to go when we got to the parking lot. Lola, Ginger and Ina were running every which way chasing one another down the trail and wrestling in the snow. Godiva mostly stood by and watched while the others played and tried to get her in the game. We had the preserve all to ourselves for our visit and this group couldn't have been more well behaved. We got in some exercise and enjoyed the sunshine before heading for home to relax for the afternoon.
Power packed pups at the Preserve
I had a high energy pack this afternoon that included Remmy, Ina, Ginger, Koda and Mya. This high energy crew bolted as soon as their paws hit the dirt today and barely slowed down at all the entire time at the Scarborough Preserve. They took turns chasing each other and running laps around me and the big field. All these puppies were still well behaved and got in alot of exercise and playtime. They did all they could do to tucker themselves out and get in as much playing as possible on this nice day. Despite their efforts they had plenty of energy left as we exited the park and for the car ride home. We got everyone home safe and sound to enjoy the rest of this lovely Monday.
Maxin' my Monday
For my next walk I went downtown to keep things rolling with Max. We had a good time and did a little sun bathing once we got around Monument Square. After some refreshing vitamin D we were ready for a little bit of exercise and exploration. Max lead the way around One City Center and down to Spring St for the final stretch. We closed out our walk with a relaxing couple of blocks before getting him home to relax.
Leading the way with Bennie and Georgie
A nice walk around the Evergreen Cemetery with Georgie and Bennie got my Monday morning started off on a good note. We had a quick walk through the neighborhood before arriving at the cemetery. There was a few others out to enjoy the sunshine and to exercise on this fine February morning. We hit the halfway point of our time together and did some exploring on the way back to the entrance of the park. Bennie and Georgie were well behaved and glad to get outside for a little while on such a nice day.
Golden Group in the Sun
Next up was a trip to Fel's Grove in Yarmouth for a pack of six Golden dogs. We had three Golden Retrievers, Grace, Zoey & Roxy and three Golden Doodles, Lola, Hank & Leo. This group found three tennis balls almost immediately, and took turns playing keep away and bringing it back for another throw. It was a little wet, but the sun was shining and the weather couldn't have been nicer. These six kept themselves entertained, chasing each other and stealing the ball to return to me for another throw. This was a high energy group, and got in a lot of exercise, as we did multiple loops around the grove. We had the place all to ourselves, and everyone was on their best behavior for the afternoon. We all had a great time, and it was a great way to spend a sunny day at the grove with Kanine Kings.
Strong Start with Otto
The weather was unseasonably warm for this Monday it late February, and we started with a walk along Back Bay with Otto. Otto was excited to get out today and we hustled to the waterfront where he admired some ducks for a bit, before approaching them, only to have them fly away. We took an extra big loop around Back Bay, and mostly had the trail to ourselves. Otto was friendly with all of the runners passing by and was on his best behavior for our stroll. We got in some exercise and enjoyed the beautiful weather before heading for home to relax and enjoy the afternoon.
Sunday Stroll with Henry & Godiva
The weather on Sunday was beautiful with temperatures in the 50s and it was a perfect day for a stroll along the waterfront. Godiva & Henry were excited to get out and explore the woods. We visited the preserve on LittleJohn and went for a long walk along the waterfront, around the point and back again. They chased a few small animals up a tree and were on their best behavior for the afternoon. We saw quite a few others out enjoying the weather with their dogs, and these two happily greeted all of the others that they encountered. We got in a great walk in the sun on this beautiful Sunday afternoon at Kanine Kings.
Saturday Special on the Preserve at LittleJohn
Saturday started out with a bit of rain, but by the time we collected all of the pups to get to the preserve, we had some beautiful weather. I took a quartet of great pups, Saltine, Godiva, Leo & Hank, to the preserve to toss the ball a bit and run in the woods. I didn't need to throw the ball too much, because they took turns playing keep away and running off into the snow and mud. The warm weather caused a bit of wetness and mud, and this group loved all of it. We managed to avoid any swimming in the ocean and still needed a few towels to get back in the car. We heard some dogs barking on the trail, but didn't see any other visitors on our trip. The weather turned out to be beautiful and everyone got in some exercise before we headed for home to relax for the weekend.
A Nice Friday with Max
Next on this Friday's agenda was a short trip downtown to see Max. We had a nice walk around Monument Square and took a few minutes to soak up some sunshine. Max was happy to receive a couple nice compliments and is always so modest. After getting a little exercise we slowed down to enjoy the smells of the unique nature that the small city has to offer. We had a nice walk and got Max home safe to take in the rest of the afternoon at his leisure
Exploring the Marsh with Otto
Friday Fun with Finn
Friday also called for a trip to feed Finn and take him out for a stroll. Finn hung out with his big brother Riley for a bit and then enjoyed his lunch. We took him out for a walk around the neighborhood, greeting a few neighbors who were out enjoying the day. Finn was on his best behavior for the afternoon and we were excited to get to visit home before the weekend came. It was a great way to head into the weekend at Kanine Kings.
Friday Playtime on the Preserve
Friday had some beautiful weather and we had a big group to take out to the preserve on LittleJohn. Jay and I took a group of seven great dogs for a run along the waterfront. Lola, Saltine, Ina, Leo, Hank, Riley & Godiva we're all excited to get out for some playtime and exercise. They took turns chasing each other through the woods. We managed to avoid any rogue swimmers on this nice but chilly day. We made a nice big loop around the preserve and everyone got in some exercise and fun before we headed for home to greet their owners in time to start the weekend. It was a great way to spend a beautiful Friday at Kanine Kings.
