The weather was a bit wet and rainy when I woke up this morning, but for the first walk of the day everything was looking clear. I started with a walk on the waterfront with Otto. He was excited to get out today, and we were off to a fast start to the Back Bay trail. We saw a few other dogs and some runners along the way and Otto was on his best behavior as we passed. He sniffed around the waterfront and we went on to explore some of his neighborhood before heading for home in time to greet his owner for the afternoon.
Super Eight is Great at the Grove
To close out a busy day at Kanine Kings, Jay and I took a big group to Fel's Grove to go for a run. We took Phoebe, Grace, Zoey, Henry, Nala, Roxy, Ina & Saltine for a run and they were off to the races right from the start. They found a few tennis balls and sticks, then chased each other to find out which one was best. We tossed the ball a bit, and managed to mostly stay dry in what was a mostly frozen grove. We saw a few other visitors, and all of the pups were happy to greet them and let them play in the group. Everyone was on their best behavior, and got in a lot of exercise, before we headed back to the car to head for home for the afternoon to relax. It was a great way to close out another great day at Kanine Kings.
Out and About with Otto
Next up for this chilly, busy day at Kanine Kings was a trip back to Portland for a visit with Otto. We took a stroll along the waterfront, where it was a bit windy and Otto wanted to head away from the water. We walked through his neighborhood and he sniffed around the yards and sidewalk, exploring the smells of the chilly day. We saw a few other neighborhood dogs and Otto was well behaved as they passed. Otto was happy to get out and about today and was on his best behavior before we headed for home for him to happily greet his owners.
Finn Being Finn
Following our visit to the park we returned Riley home and stopped in to check in on the puppy. Finn was excited to see me when I arrived and was too busy playing and trying to give me his toys to eat. We went outside for a bit and he did his thing before we headed back inside for a few bites. He finished his lunch, then ran around with Riley for a bit before we grabbed him a few snacks before we hit the road. Finn is getting bigger every day, and is a lot of fun to visit for all of us at Kanine Kings.
Fun Four at the Quarry
Tuesday called for some chilly weather, but that didn't slow down the four pups we took the Quarry run. Lola, Saltine, Ina & Riley were happy to get out and about today and headed to the top of the hill and made a few new friends. There were not a lot of other dogs at the park today, but this group was friendly and happy to meet all of them. They played chase and took turns playing tug of war with a giant stick Saltine decided was a toy. This group was on their best behavior, and we got in a nice big loop of the park, in order to avoid the frozen muddy area. We made the most of our visit to the park today and everyone had a blast, while we managed to avoid any burs today ;)
Friendly visit in Falmouth
My Tuesday began with a good group walk in West Falmouth. I picked up Maggie, Bella and Abby on the way up to Tucker's for a friendly play date. We enjoyed the pleasure of the empty woods to explore and run a little through the trees. Tucker, Bella and Maggie stopped for a few minutes after they found some sticks that they wanted to chew on. This mature, older pack was a great low key way to get my day started. We had a nice leisurely stroll eventually returning to the car and getting them all home to relax for the rest of the day.
Downtown Max
I had the pleasure of Max's company for a good day to walk around the oldport. It was such a warm day I left my jacket in the car for my little downtown adventure with Max. We explored some of his favorite spots on Spring St and made sure to say hello to a friend. Max was happy to be outside and enjoying the nice weather and sunshine for this warm end to February.
Through the Evergreen with Bennie and Georgie
I headed into Portland next for a nice walk with Georgie and Bennie. We enjoyed the fresh air on the short trip to enter the cemetery. Bennie and Georgie were well behaved and happy to explore a little. We got some exercise and enjoyed the sunshine on this warm day. We returned to the entrance of the park after a pleasant stroll and got them home to relax for the afternoon.
Monday morning Trio
I picked up Maggie, Koda and Mya first thing this morning for a walk around the Trolley park. The park was a bit awry after some recent logging to open up the park so we started by running in the baseball diamond. Koda and Maggie are good friends and always enjoy a spirited game of chase. We did a little exploring alongside the riverbank and got a little messy on the way back up the hill. I brought them back into the outfield to dry off some and to chew on a few sticks before we headed home.
Six in the Mix
There were a fewer rain clouds lurking for our walk in Fel's Grove in Yarmouth, but we managed to stay pretty dry. We took Ruby, Roxy, Zoey, Grace, Saltine and Ina to the grove without any tennis balls, and ultimately left with three. We tried to stay to the higher ground and only ran into a few major puddles. Saltine and Grace plopped themselves down in the largest puddle they could find after chasing down the ball while the others chased them around to retrieve the ball. We had the place all to ourselves for our trip and this crew was on their best behavior for the trip. We toweled off a bit before loading up the car to head for home for the afternoon to relax in the sunshine. It was a great way to close out a busy, beautiful day at Kanine Kings.
Relaxing Stroll with Otto
Next up or this beautiful Monday was a trip across town for a walk on the waterfront with Otto. He was excited to get out today, and we were off to a fast start toward the path around Back Bay. We saw lots of others out enjoying the weather, and Otto was on his best behavior for our trip. We got in a nice long stroll so he could take care of some business and ultimately he was ready to head for home. Otto was happy to get out today, and we were happy to take him out to enjoy this beautiful Monday at Kanine Kings.
Quads at Quarry Run
The weather on Monday was nearly perfect, in the high 50s and unseasonably warm for February. The day started at Quarry Run with Remy, Lola, Saltine and Ina and we went behind the park to find some high ground to stay dry. This crew mostly stayed dry, but somehow managed to get covered in burs. They took turns chasing each other and wrestling over sticks before we spent some time cleaning up the burs and washing up a bit before heading home. This crew was on their best behavior for the afternoon, and were all friendly and got along with the other dogs and thier owners that were there. Despite getting a bit messy, it was a great way to start the week at Kanine Kings.
Saturday Afternoon Special
The busy end to our week at Kanine Kings spilled over into Saturday this week. Our guests Summer, Abigail and Bella came along with Saltine and Lola for a fun afternoon in the park at Quarry Run. It was quite wet and muddy there in some spots so we tried to keep to playing in the high ground as much as we could. They were all well behaved and enjoyed playing and making some new friends. Lola and Saltine found a few sticks to play chase with through the trees. While the rest were happy to hangout, socialize, and explore. little. We got everyone cleaned up the best we could before getting them home to enjoy the rest of their Saturday.
A stroll through the cemetery with Bennie and Georgie
I made it into Portland next for a nice walk around the Evergreen Cemetery this afternoon. Bennie and Georgie were excited to get outside and explore the scenic cemetery. We enjoyed walking in the open spaces to take in the sunshine and fresh air on this pleasant Friday afternoon. They were on their best behavior and enjoyed a short time to run free and chase after each other. We got back to the entrance of the cemetery and made the short walk back through their neighborhood to get them home safe and sound.
Making friends in Falmouth
My Friday morning started off with our fresh recruits Abby and Bella. We made the short ride upto the woods of West Falmouth to introduce them to our good friend Tucker. They were all happy to make a new friend and anxious to get to the trailhead. We had a nice pleasant walk through the woods to get some exercise and fresh air. Bella and Tucker found a couple sticks to chew on, while Abby took the time to roam free and explore. It was a great way to make new friends and to get things started off on a high note for the Kanine Kings.
Back to Max
Friday also called for a few walks with Max. We got in an early morning stroll today, early enough to see some of the local businesses opening for the morning, and we were lucky enough to see a few people who wanted to stop and show him some love before their workday. We also got out around lunchtime and even more of the locals were out and about and happy to greet him on their travels. Max was on his best behavior for the day, and he got a lot of love from the locals, before it was time to head for home to warm up for the afternoon. Max got in a lot of exercise and was happy to get out in the sunshine for the afternoon on this chilly but sunny Friday at Kanine Kings.
Friday Fun with Finn
Following our walk in Fel's Grove it was time for another visit with Finn. Finn was excited when we arrived and tried to play with his big brother Riley for a bit before we headed outside. He chased a few leaves and splashed in a few puddles before it was time to head back in for lunch. He picked at his kibble for a bit and tried to play with Riley some more, before he finally finished off his bowl. We went back outside so he could take car of some business before it was time to head out for the afternoon, and leave him with a few snacks in his crate for the afternoon, to wait for his owner to get home for the weekend.
Friday's Lucky Seven Start
The weather was a bit chilly, but the sun was shining to start this Friday at Kanine Kings, and we started at Fel's Grove with a great group of seven pups. Our newest Kanine King, Summer, fit in nicely with the crew including Lola, Leo, Hank, Ina, Riley & Godiva on our trip to Fel's Grove. We had a few tennis balls to toss around and they splashed through the puddles to retrieve them or played keep away from one another. Summer found a stick she liked and played tug of war with a few of the others playfully in the puddles. This group had the grove all to themselves today and made the most of it, running and splashing every which way. We managed to get wet from head to toe, but it was nothing that couldn't be easily cleaned up, before heading for home for the weekend in time to greet their owners hello when they arrived.
Having a Ball (or three) at Fel's Grove
To close out a busy day at Kanine Kings, Jay and I took a big group out to Fel's Group. We had Grace, Roxy, Zoey, Phoebe, Henry, Hank, Leo, Ruby & Nala out and ready to chase tennis balls through the puddles. We tried our best to find some high ground to stay somewhat dry, but generally had no luck. With all of the retrievers in the group they weren't afraid to find their way into any water they could find. This group found three more tennis balls in the grove and were frantically returning them to be tossed and playing keep away around the field. We encountered a couple of other dogs with their owners, and the group was complimented for their good behavior, and the pack welcomed the other dogs to play with them. We managed to stay relatively dry, but the dogs certainly didn't, but it was nothing a couple of towels couldn't handle. We loaded up into the cars for our voyage home and everyone was home in time to greet their owner's arrival. It was a great way to spend a wet day at Kanine Kings.
Puppy Play Time
When we took Riley home it was time to visit with Finn. He was excited to eat some lunch today and nearly finished the whole bowl before we left.. We went outside and he chased some leaves and lapped at the puddles on the street before doing his business. He wanted to play for a bit so we tossed his toy for him in his area before we returned him to his crate for an afternoon nap. He ran around with Riley for a minute or two before we returned him to his crate to nap and await the return of his owners. Finn and I had a lot of fun on our visit today and he was on his best behavior.
