Thursday started with some snow flurries and the weather was a bit chilly for our trip to the preserve in Scarborough. Ginger, Emma, Remy & Riley were ready to run from the moment we arrived and bolted down the trail. They took turns chasing one another down the trail and through the woods. Riley looked through the woods for any stray birds, while the three younger dogs gave chase, tumbling each other in the fresh powder as they went. We had the preserve all to ourselves and these four were on their best behavior for our trip. We managed to avoid any swimming today in this snowy, cold weather, but everyone got in their exercise on land. Despite the snow, everyone had a blast on this chilly Thursday at Kanine Kings.
Steppin' out with Finn
Finn was all smiles today and almost knocked me over backwards when I bent down to greet him. He is such a happy puppy and always so glad to get outside for a few minutes to explore and play a bit with Riley. We had a nice little stroll through the yard and took a couple of minutes to chew on a stick and roll in the grass before getting him inside for a treat.
Two pair up in Falmouth
I had a ready and willing 4-pack of pups for a nice afternoon walk through the woods in West Falmouth. Remy, Riley, Tucker and Saltine are well acquainted now and were anxious to explore the trail. Remy and Saltine jumped into a game of tag while Tucker and Riley were a little more content to take a minute to ease into the outdoors. There was plenty to explore since all the snow from the day before has already melted and made it officially "mud season." They all played and ran through the big puddles that had formed and stopped to get a cool drink of water from the creek. We made a short loop down to see the lake before getting back to the car then eventually dropping everyone off to finish off my day with Kanine Kings.
A little adventure for Max
I headed into the oldport next for a quick but fun adventure downtown with Max. We had a good walk through Monument Square for a little fresh air and exercise. Then he took a few minutes to enjoy one of his favorite spots around One City Center before we could push on. We soaked up some of the sunshine and took in the sights of Portland while we were making our way up Spring St. Max was insistent on making a quick pitstop by the arena before I could get him back home to his cozy bed.
Inquisitive Otto
I started off my day in Portland for a walk on the boulevard to get some fresh air with Otto. He was happy to see me when I arrived and glad to get out to enjoy the spring day. Otto found all kinds of smells to investigate just off the trail around the bay. We got in a little exercise after he was done with his thorough investigation then returned to his neighborhood. Otto and I had a nice stroll through the side streets to arrive safely at his door to finish up our walk.
Five Fun Friends at LittleJohn
Next up for this great Wednesday at Kanine Kings was a trip to LittleJohn for a run with five great dogs. Hank, Leo, Kaia, Macey & Violet were excited to visit the preserve today and we're off to a fast start. They headed to the trail and splashed through the mud toward the waterfront. These five were all fast friends and took turns playing chase across the field into the trails. They all had the preserve all to themselves and had a great time running and playing. This crew was on their best behavior for the afternoon and managed to get a bit wet, but nothing crazy on this overcast day. It was a great way to spend this busy Wednesday at Kanine Kings.
Splish Splash at Scarborough Preserve
Wednesday was a bit overcast but the weather wasn't too cold, which was great for these swimmers at the preserve. Ginger, Violet, Saltine & Remy were excited to get started today and headed right for the water when we arrived. We saw a group of UNE students who were out exploring the area, and they were happy to visit. They chased each other through the mud to the next watering hole, where they did some more swimming. This group was in their best behavior for the afternoon and got in a lot of exercise and had a blast. We headed back to the car to dry off a bit before heading for home for the afternoon.
Pratt's Brook Party Time
This busy Tuesday continued with a trip to Pratt's Brook in Yarmouth with five great dogs. Phoebe, Henry, Ruby, Violet & Saltine were happy to go for a run in the woods and even went for a swim. This group was quite familiar with these woods, and found their way into the brook. We went on down the trail and these five found every mud puddle along the way. We saw a few other people out enjoying a walk with their pups, and these five were happy to greet everyone. We headed back down the trail the way we came and these five were full speed ahead. We splashe back into the brook to clean off a bit, then toweled off, to warm up on the drive home. It may have been chilly, but this group didn't let the cold bother them and we all had a blast at Kanine Kings.
Early Start on LittleJohn
Tuesday got an early start on LittleJohn with for great dogs. Zoey, Grace, Roxy & Remy were excited to get out today and play in the snow. The weather was sunny but a bit cool so the snow hadn't melted yet and these four just love the snow. They took turns chasing each other and rolling into the powder as they went. This crew was on their best behavior for the morning and got in lot of exercise before we headed for home. It may have been a bit chilly but everyone had a great time to start off this busy Tuesday at Kanine Kings.
Stretching out with Finn
Finn was in high spirits today and happy to see me when I arrived. I got him outside and he went right into some big puppy stretches to loosen up that growing body of his. He played a little with Riley in the front yard then enjoyed sharing a few treats with him in the driveway. After a nice long drink of refreshing water I got him settled back in to relax until his owners returned home
Introducing: Violet
Tuesday continued with a trip to LittleJohn with a few different pups. Saltine, Remy, Leo, Hank and our latest addition to the Kanine Kings family, Violet. She fit in right away and joined in playing chase and rolling in the snow. This group had the preserve all to themselves and were all on their best behavior for the day. We got to the end of the loop near the waterfront and Saltine, Leo & Violet decided to take a dip in the ocean. It was a bit cold, but these three weren't deterred and continued to have a blast. We headed back to the car and blasted some heat to thaw out the group before heading for home to relax for the afternoon.
A Pair of Kings in Falmouth
I brought along Riley for a nice trip this afternoon to Falmouth to walk and explore with Tucker. They were both well behaved and had nothing but smiles for our little excursion. We enjoyed the pleasant sights and smells once we reached the woods for some exercise and exploration. Riley did a little exploring off on his own while Tucker and I stuck to the trail mostly today. We had plenty of sunshine to crank up the heat to finish our walk back up the hill to Tucker's house.
A Seaside Stroll with Otto
Otto and I took a nice relaxing stroll by the back bay to get outside and enjoy the strong spring sun. He was on his best behavior this afternoon when we passed by some fellow walkers and introduced me to his neighbor from up the street. We said goodbye for now and finished our walk with a little fresh air and exercise. I got Otto settled in once we returned home to relax.
Seeking the Sunshine with Max
Max and I began our walk this morning in the shadows of Congress St. It was a bit chilly for our first stretch downtown until we decided to make a turn east and into the warming sun. Max was well behaved and happy to greet a group of nurses when they came out of their office. We had a nice stroll down by the arena with them before we went our separate ways. Max and I pushed on for a couple more blocks to enjoy the sunshine before dropping him off to enjoy his afternoon.
Trolley park turned Snow globe
I had a fun play date at the Trolley park this afternoon with Koda, Maggie, Lola and Mya. They were well behaved and enjoyed playing games with each other in the baseball field and along the trail. We explored a nice little grove of pine trees by the river then took a quick break underneath the bridge. Lola, Koda and Maggie had fun running through the trees and chewing on a few tasty sticks. They even played a unique game of tug o' war between the three of them when they found a long section of a tree root in the snow. We got back to the car and got everyone warmed up, cleaned off and home to relax.
Snowy Strides with Max
To start off the first full day of spring Max and I had a few inches of snow to explore and walk through downtown. We began by enjoying a short stretch up Congress St then skipped over a couple of blocks to Spring St. Max took some time to play a little in the snow at one of his favorite spots to hangout when we're out and about town. We had a pleasant finish to our walk by strolling by the arena before arriving safely at Max's door.
Fresh Snow with Otto
Monday brought a few more inches of snow than the last forecast I read, but that didn't slow down the dogs of Kanine Kings. We walked along the boulevard while a bit of snow still fell, and Otto was happy to go out and make some tracks. We didn't see any other people out on the boulevard, but there were some fresh ski tracks from people trying to get in one last day of winter fun. It was a bit chilly, but we got in some exercise and enjoyed (hopefully) one last day of winter.
Sunday Funday
Sunday called for a special trip to the Quarry Run Dog Park with four great pups. Summer, Saltine, Remy & Harvey were ready to run and headed straight up the trail, leading to the hill behind the park. These for got along great and played chase up the trail to join some other visitors playing. They were all on their best behavior and were happy to meet with all of the other owners and dogs. We looped around the trail and back through the park to visit with the other dogs playing inside. They spent some time playing and making new friends before we decided to head for home for the afternoon. It was a great Sunday excursion for this fun crew and another fun day at Kanine Kings.
Saturday Special
Saturday's weather was a bit chilly, but we took a special trip to the Quarry Run Dog Park with a trio of great dogs. Nala, Summer & Harvey were excited to go for a run up through the park and back around the trails behind the park. These three were fast friends, and took turns splashing through the ice into the wet mud underneath. They did a lot of running, and Nala even found a tennis ball along the way for me to toss a bit. We saw a few other dogs out in the park and on the trails, and this crew was on their best behavior for every visitor. The weather may have been a bit cold, but nothing this group couldn't handle, as we got in a good run on this Saturday at Kanine Kings.
Finn's Friday Friends
We visited with Finn today and picked up Riley for our stroll at Pratt's Brook. He wanted to join his big brother today after they played for a bit in the yard. Finn was happy to walk the neighborhood, before he realized there were some more dogs in the car. He stopped to greet them happily before we headed inside for some lunch. He made less of a mess with is food in the crate today, and he enjoyed some lunch before we headed out. When we dropped Riley off, Finn happily greeted us and we went out for a little walk around the neighborhood again, in a little bit of rain. Finn had a great day, and he made for a great Friday at Kanine Kings.
