Wet Quartet at the Preserve

Tuesday called for some rainy weather, but that didn't stop our first four of the day from having a blast at the nature preserve in Scarborough.  Ginger, Lola, Saltine & Godiva were ready to have some fun and slide around in the rainy wet grass.  They took turns playing chase across the field and into the woods, eventually finding a pond to splash around in.  Lola & Saltine were the first into the water, while Ginger and Godiva mostly just waded around the outskirts of the pond.  It was a bit muddy and wet, but this group had a great time despite the poor conditions.  We had the preserve all to ourselves this afternoon and these four got in a lot of exercise in the rain today before we headed for home to spend the afternoon drying out and relaxing.

Six Pack at Fel's Grove

Nest up for this overcast Monday at Kanine Kings was a trip to Fel's Grove in Yarmouth for a great run with six great pups.  Grace, Roxy, Zoey, Lola, Remy & Maggie were ready to run when we arrived and immediately played a game of chase into the wooded trail by the parking lot.  They rolled a bit in the grass and took turns chasing one another around the field, playing keep away with various sticks.  We had the grove all to ourselves today, and managed to avoid any raindrops during our run.  This group was on their best behavior for the afternoon, and got in a ton of exercise, having a blast as they went.  We had a great time and managed to stay dry on this overcast Monday at Kanine Kings.

Splendid Stroll to Start the Week

Monday was a bit overcast and there were occasional light rain, but that didn't stop us from having a great day at Kanine Kings.  The day started in Portland with a trip to Evergreen Cemetery with Bennie & Georgie.  These two are starting to become more comfortable with our walks and were happy to get out and about today.  We managed to avoid the rain and stay dry today while we went to the cemetery and had some play time.  These two had the place all to themselves and had a blast running around in the damp grass and through the trails.  These two were on their best behavior for the day and we got in a nice long walk before the rain came.  It was a great way to start out another great week at Kanine Kings.

Friday Fun with Finn

Friday also called for a couple of visits with Finn, who was excited to get out today and run around in the sun.  He got a chance to go on a stroll around the neighborhood and when we returned he got to meet Maggie.  These two were fast friends and wrestled a bit in the yard before Finn was ready to enjoy some lunch.  We left him with his food while we took our trip to Fort Williams, and when we came back he was ready to go out again.  He had some more playtime with Maggie and tried to get Riley involved before he was a bit worn out and ready to head inside.  We left him with a few treats in his crate before we departed and left him to nap for the afternoon.  It was a great way to close out another great week at Kanine Kings.

Friday Fun at Fort Williams

Friday brought us for a run at Fort Williams in Cape Elizabeth with a great group of five dogs.  Lola, Maggie, Tucker, Godiva & Riley were excited to see a new place for most of them and explore the dog area around the fields.  They met a bunch of other dogs that were out enjoying the day with their owners and were happy to play with them.  The stole a tennis ball from the group and played some keep away.  Lola & Maggie got distracted by a stick and played some tug of war, then took turns chasing each other.  Tucker made some new friends, while Riley explored the furthest reaches of the park.  Everyone got in a lot of exercise and had a blast before we headed for home to relax into the weekend.

Bennie & Georgie on the Move

Friday started with no rain and the forecast called for some clear skies, and we started with a stroll through Baxter Woods with Bennie & Georgie.  These two were excited to get out and about today and we were off to a fast start to Baxter Woods.  They pulled there way to the park and when we got there, they had some off leash time to run and play with one another.  We saw a few other dogs running around the park, and these two were a bit reluctant to greet them and mostly kept to themselves.  These two were on their best behavior for the afternoon and got in their exercise while they had a blast.  It was a great way to start this beautiful spring Friday at Kanine Kings.

A Muddy Mess at Pratt's Brook

The rain wasn't going to slow down, but that didn't stop our trip to Pratt's Brook in Yarmouth for a run with five great dogs.  Phoebe, Lola, Ruby, Nala & Riley were ready for a full on run through the woods and into the brook for a swim.  They hit the water at their earliest opportunity and pulled a few sticks out to play tug of war with.  They then seemed to find every mud puddle on the trail and wrestle in it, rolling through the mud covering themselves.  Everyone had a blast and got in a lot of exercise today, swimming and mud.  We took a dip in the brook on our way back to the car and everyone got a thorough drying before we dropped them off at home for the afternoon to relax.  Despite the weather, it was another great day at Kanine Kings.

Finn Not a Fan of the Rain

Thursday was also a day for some visits with Finn.  On our first visit, the rain was at a lull and he was happy to come out and run around the yard on the wet grass.  He slid around a bit and we took a stroll around the neighborhood, before he was ready to head home for some lunch.  We left him with his food, and he ate every bite by the time we returned, and wasn't nearly as excited to go out while the rain was falling.  After trying to get back in the house a few times, he reluctantly went on a walk to take car of his business.  He was happy to get back in out of the rain, and we had a few treats before heading out for the afternoon.

Golden Foursome

Thursday's forecast called for some showers, so we got off to an early start in hopes of keeping dry.  Grace, Zoey, Roxy & Henry were ready to go for a run on the waterfront at the LittleJohn preserve.  It started to rain almost immediately, but that didn't stop this crew from having a blast.  We threw the tennis ball for a bit, and they played chase through the woods and trails along the ocean side.  We had the preserve all to ourselves and these four were on their best behavior for the afternoon.  We got to the point and it was high tide, so these four didn't have far to go to get some swimming in.  They took full advantage and paddled out into the water for a bit, before we headed back to the car to dry off and head for home.

Three's company at the Preserve

I began my wet Thursday by picking up Abby and Bella on my way down to Scarborough to visit Ginger. Ginger was so happy and excited to see me and to greet her two new friends. We arrived at the preserve next to the marsh for a rainy walk through the woods. We started with a hike by the field then around to see the two little ponds. All 3 of them played a little in the water to clean off some of the mud, Bella even took a quick swim. It was a mucky trek on the trail around to the other side of the field. We all were pretty soaked by the time we finished exploring the field and returned to the car to dry off before heading home.

Finn Makes a Friend Part 2

Today was also a day where we made a few visits to Finn at Kanine Kings.  Finn was excited to see us when we arrived and he got to meet Lola today as well.  She was ready to play and happy to meet the puppy.  They played for a bit and got along great, before it was time to feed Finn some lunch.  We left him with his meal while we went on our run, and when we came back he had some more play time in the yard.  We finished our visit with a drink of water and a couple of treats, then Finn was ready to close out the afternoon napping in his crate while he patiently awaited his owner's arrival.

Super Seven at Pratt's Brook

To close out this chilly Wednesday Jay and I took a trip to Yarmouth for a run at Pratt's Brook with seven great dogs.  Lola, Tucker, Kaia, Macey, Willie, Riley & Ina had a great afternoon running in the fields and playing in the woods.  Willie was making his debut with the group and he was fast friends with Tucker, while the other younger dogs ran crazy in the woods.  They retrieved a couple of sticks and played tug of war until one would win and run away with their prize.  We ran into a couple of other people out enjoying the day with their dogs, and this group was on their best behavior.  We all got in a lot of exercise and had a lot of fun before we decided to head back to the car to warm up a bit and head for home for the afternoon to relax.  It was a great way to spend a chilly Wednesday at Kanine Kings.

High Energy Quartet

Wednesday called for some more chilly weather, and we started with a trip to the preserve in Scarborough, for a high energy run with four great dogs.  Ginger, Remy, Emma & Ina are all close to the same age and definitely had a lot of puppy playtime on our trip to Scarborough.  They were quickly down the trail and into the woods, wrestling and playing as they went.  The ground was still a bit frozen, but the pond was not, and Remy decided to wade out into the water a bit until I called him back.  They continued to give chase through the woods and down the paths toward the marshland.  We had the place all to ourselves today, and everyone was on their best behavior for the afternoon.  we all had a great time and got in a lot of running to start out this chilly Wednesday at Kanine Kings.

Opening Day Nine

Tuesday was also opening day for the Red Sox, and to celebrate Jay and I took a group of nine great dogs to Fel's Grove to play some ball.  Five Golden Retrievers, Zoey, Roxy, Nala, Henry & Grace along with Phoebe, Ruby, Saltine & Ina made a full team for our game of catch.  This group found a few extra balls to play with and we had them flying in all directions for them to retrieve then play keep away from one another, then go right back to chasing the ball.  It was a bit chilly, but that didn't deter this group from having a good time.  Everyone got in a lot of running and exercise, whether they were chasing the ball or just chasing one another.  We got in our run and everyone had a great time, and we all got home in time to catch the end of the Red Sox Opening Day victory. :)

Finn was excited to meet a new dog and they ran around wrestling in the front yard for a while.  Finn was happy to have a new play pal and they got in some good playtime before Finn was ready for some lunch.  They said goodbye and Finn was left to devour his food while we were away.  When we  returned, Finn was ready to head back outside for a stroll around the neighborhood.  Finn was on his best behavior for the afternoon and was excited to make a new friend today.

Super Six Sprinters in Falmouth

There was no new snow today but it was still a bit chilly and we started with a trip to Falmouth for a romp in the woods with six great dogs.  Tucker, Lola, Luke, Ina, Saltine & Riley were ready to run today and took turns chasing each other in and out of the woods.  They found a few sticks and played tug of war before getting right back to the chase.  Saltine found a giant frozen puddle and splashed around in the cold water without a care while Tucker, Lola and Ina ran circles around her.  Luke was giving chase until he saw the water, while Riley splashed few a few times.  Everyone was a bit wet so we turned the heat up in the car for our ride home to keep the chills away.  Everyone made the most of this chilly day and got in a lot of exercise and had a blast on this Tuesday at Kanine Kings.

Exploring The Falmouth Woods

To close out this busy Friday at Kanine Kings, Jay and I took a trip to Falmouth to take a stroll through the woods with a great group of pups.  Tucker, Roxy, Lola, Riley, Grace, Maggie & Zoey were ready to do a lot of running and did their best to find some water.  We headed down a trail past the stream into a clearing, where Grace found a tennis ball in the middle of nowhere.  We tossed the ball a bit, and Lola & Roxy alternated playing keep away from the other dogs with the ball.  We headed back before the rain came, and took a scenic stroll toward the lake before heading back to the car for a ride home.  This group was on their best behavior for the afternoon, and had a blast swimming and running through the woods.  This was a high energy group and everyone got in a lot of exercise before the rain came and we headed for home in time to stay dry and relax for the afternoon.  It was a great way to finish a busy week at Kanine Kings.

Friday Finn Fun

Friday also called for a few visits with the puppy, Finn.  He was excited to get outside and run around in the yard today and jump on his big brother Riley.  Riley wasn't too excited about that and he wanted to head for the car, leaving Finn and I some time to play in the yard.  Finn likes to wrestle a bit a roll in the grass so we spent some time playing before lunch.  We headed inside to have some food while Riley went on his walk and Finn ate every bite today.  We headed back outside for a quick stroll around the block before we gave him a few treats and headed home.  Finn was on his best behavior on this busy Friday at Kanine Kings.
